Bo Jordan 2500 Hits; 2029, V12

Post by Bumstead » Mon Jan 23, 2017 11:31 am

So, Bo Jordan registered his 2500th career hit a month or so ago. Jordan came to the Twin Cities as a salary dump for Halifax in a trade that netted Halifax Jacky Voorneveld, the MVP of the BBA All Star game and few other pieces that haven't worked out quite the same. The centerpiece of the trade for the River Monsters was an 18 year old Lefty named Josh Brown; Brown has struggled at A ball this season, but at 18 there is plenty of time for him to develop his skills. The River Monsters also landed Ivan Castillo and David Gutierrez in the deal.

But, back to why we wrote this article....On July 11th in front of 44,777 River Monsters fans, Bo Jordan went 3 for 5 with 3 RBI's that brought back memories of the Bo Jordan of the past. His 3rd hit of the game and the 2500th of his career came in the bottom of the 9th with the River Monsters trying to battle back from a 9-4 deficit. Manny Vargas, Valencia's Closer had just come into the game with 2 outs, 2 runs in and a man standing at 1B. With a 1-1 count Jordan ripped a double down the right field line to drive in one more run. Jason Dunn would fly out to end the game, ending Twin Cities comeback attempt.

So, in a season where it looked like Bo Jordan would just be a circus act, he has actually performed decently with this slash: .242/.308/.409/.717. He is an easy vote in as a first ballot Hall of Famer with his career .911 OPS, 552 Home Runs, 1535 RBI's, 69.4 WAR and so on. It's unlikely he comes back to play for Twin Cities next year, heck there are rumors he might just retire, but he has certainly had a brilliant career and has given the River Monster fans some happy moments this season.

Wonder what it's like to watch a 270 man leg out a double at 37. Heck, Jordan even has a triple this year.

For the first 6 years of that deal, it was a solid value and good signing. But man, these last 3 years have been painful for me to watch, and I don't even remember the 6+ WAR version of Bo Jordan.

So who's taking bets? Over under on Jordan's weight when he retires, 300?
