28.9. Just How We Planned It

Post by agrudez » Tue Sep 13, 2016 12:59 pm

The opening month is now officially in the books with the Huntsville Phantoms sitting at 21-6 - 6 games up in the JLM (over YS) and 2.5 games up on the second place team in the MBBA (MON). Clearly, this is exactly how we drew it up.

I mean, who wouldn't have pegged McKillen for a 1.002 OPS? Or Ibanez for a .912? How about Moreno for an otherworldly 1.188? Yeah, like I said, exactly how we drew it up. Hell, at this rate we won't even miss Kal El! On the pitching side, we have slightly less of what some may call "over-achievement" until we get to Fernando Moran and his >6 WAR pace. Sanderson and Garza are on 3 and 3.6 WAR paces respectively, too. Gosh, I'm such a pitching mastermind - able to will wayward arms towards greatness even with my extended fences!

But it's not all sunshine and lollipops - we also have some slackers in our midst. Cavazos and Lee haven't been bad, but they haven't been good, either, with 3 and 1.8 WAR paces respectively. And then we have bums on offense like Guzman and Curry (both with a .628 OPS - what a coincidence!) riding the coat tails of their betters (like the aforementioned McKillen).

Just imagine what this team is going to do once the hangers on start hanging stats? Well, we're already on a 126 win pace, so let's go ahead and throw 130 wins out as a conservative guess, shall we?
