JL/FL Players of the Sim - Sim 3

Post by 7teen » Mon Dec 01, 2014 1:53 pm

Sorry guys. I got sick over the Thanksgiving Break and then went out of town with my family without a computer and was unable to get this feature up. I did take a screenshot of my phone of the top performers of the sim though in order to keep up with this. Sim 4's report will be out shortly as well....

JL Hitter of the Sim
Image
Matthew Stuart (Chicago Black Sox)
Stuart narrowly edged out Halifax's Juan Garcia for this award in large part thanks to Stuart's 18 RBI effort in sim 3. Those 18 RBI are a season high for a sim at this early juncture of the year. Stuart added a .405 average and 4 homeruns to his total along with 2 stolen bases. Critics of my selection will note that Garcia had a higher average, scored more runs, and had a higher OPS than Stuart. With that said, you're the critics. I'm the author. Get over it!
Runner Up: Juan Garcia

JL Pitcher of the Sim
Image
Mingo Boone (Yellow Springs Nine)
Mingo had a great sim, going 2-0 in his 2 starts with a 0.51 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and 12 Ks. He finished a completed game against Marquette where he allowed just 1 run and he fell just 1 out short of a complete game shutout against Birmingham in his 2nd start of the sim. The former 1st overall pick is looking to finally take that next step into being a dominant starter.
Runner Up: Danny Lamb

FL HItter of the Month
Image
Orlando Alejo (Des Moines Kernals)
Alejo went a little under the radar in the sim. In fact, OOTPOU ranked his performance as the 16th best in the entire MBWBA that sim. I don't consider it that low. He hit .478 which led the Frick League for the sim. His 3 homeruns were just 1 shy of the lead and his 11 RBI were the highest in the Frick League. Now granted, OOTPOU only ranked 6 Frick League hitters in the top 20 this sim so must not have been a heavy hitting week for the FL. Oh yeah, Alejo also posted a 1.476 OPS, the highest in the MBWBA.
Runner UP: Bartolo Melendez

FL Pitcher of the Month
Image
Manny Bautista (Las Vegas Hustlers)
Bautista continues to make his mark known as a starter thanks to a 2-0 sim that watched him go 6.2 innings of 1 run 7 hit ball against Hawaii then follow that up with 7 shutout innings in his next start against Vancouver. In that Mounties win, Manny allowed just 3 hits while walking just 1 better and striking out 8.
Runner UP: Albert Martinez

I am concerned about the anti-Slugger bias of this reviewer

Manfredi had some consideration, but going to be tough to win pitcher award with a loss in the sim. His other numbers were solid though.

Stuart only won because if Garcia won every sim then this would be a pretty boring series haha. He's doing very well though. I want to see more from the combination of him and Bob Ritchie.
