(Now THAT is a badass video! More bongos!!)

Last week Boise was tied with Rocky Mountain for next-to-last in the division. Then they were swept by the Oysters and are now tied with San Antonio for the same honorific. They did split with a good Mexico City squad. At home, of course. It's time for some young guys to grab the reins and prove they belong as key players are inching into old-ness. Some are getting their shot now and others should be looking to the beginning of September.

@ Rocky Mountain 4-7 L PJack McNeil (L) - 3.2 IP, 5 H, 7 ER, 3 BB, 0 K
@ Rocky Mountain 4-7 L P Doug Eckhoff (ND) - 5.0 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 6 K
Jack McNeil (7 G, 7 GS, 1-6, 9.00 ERA, 33.0 IP, 1.55 WHIP, -0.6 WAR) was first up for the 3rd game of a series in Colorado. He is supposed to be pitching to prove he has any value. He either isn't or he doesn't. He somewhat navigated the first 3 innings then got tagged for 5 runs in the 4th. One big beneficiary of McNeil's generosity was the Oysters' 1B Malik bin Mazin who launched a GRAND SLAM in the 4th. But McNeil held him to just that one hit. DH Perry Taylor (39 G, 6 2B, 4 HR, 17 RBI, .209/.290/.349, -0.3 WAR) is supposed to be proving he can handle the baton from Pedro Hozven (98 G, 27 2B, 1 3B, 17 HR, 59 RBI, .277/.338/.510, +1.3 WAR) and he went 2-4 with 2 HR. Pretty, pretty, good. We'll see if he disappears for the rest of the Sim (spoiler: he disappears for the rest of the Sim). Eckhoff (15 G, 15 GS, 0-3, 6.95 ERA, 68.2 IP, 52 K, 1.41 WHIP, -0.1 WAR) was up in the finale. He has a $9.3m team option to play for and it seems he forgot that this season. The score was tied at 4 after 7 innings but the Oysters put up 3 in the bottom of the 8th to put the game to bed. 1B Tracy 'Jigga' Allison delivered 3 RBI.

v Mexico City 3-1 W SP Muneer bin Khairy (ND) - 6.2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 5 K
v Mexico City 2-3 L SP Mahad 'Furball' Einan (L) - 7.2 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 3 K
v Mexico City 5-4 W P Robert Carlson (W) - 6.1 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
v Mexico City 8-14 L McNeil (L) - 1.1 IP, 6 H, 7 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
'Scary' bin Khairy (24 G, 24 GS, 7-10, 4.36 ERA, 140.1 IP, 1.41 WHIP, +1.3 WAR) got a home series vs the Aztecs off to a great start. Mexico City's Johnny Nicholson was excellent but came up just short of bin Khairy's effort. Mahad Einan (18 G, 18 GS, 9-5, 4.24 ERA, 104.0 IP, 1.47 WHIP, +2.1 WAR) was dominating as he sometimes can be allowing just 5 hits in his 7.2 innings of work in the 2nd game, but the offense couldn't get anything going against Mexico City SP José Martínez. You never really know what to expect when a Spuds pitcher gives up an early run. It could spiral out of control or settle down. Carlson (36 G, 9 GS, 5-4, 4.95 ERA, 96.1 IP, 1.53 WHIP, +0.5 WAR) settled down allowing just the one run in 6+ innings. LF Cosmo Pan delivered a double and a HR in the win. McNeil was back around in the series finale to see if Boise could get a win streak past 2. They could not. The lefty somehow managed to allow the same number of runs as in his previous start, 7, but in just 1.1 innings this time so he beat his personal best. Aztecs C Ross 'The Albatross' Deville feasted in the finale delivering 5 RBI and RF Charles Barling dropped off his 12th and 13th homers on the year.
