"Bring in the dog and put out the cat!" Yes sir, Mr. Vegas.
Boise came into Sim #21 with tons of momentum. Towards what we not sure, but it was there: a series sweep in Austin, a 7-game winning streak, and having taken the first game of a series in San Antonio. They needed to keep it up with a home series vs Las Vegas looming on the horizon.

@ San Antonio 1-5 L SP Jeremy Nickerson (L) - 25 G, 18 GS, 3-5, 4.84 ERA, 115.1 IP, 1.36 WHIP, +0.3 WAR
@ San Antonio 0-8 L P Muneer bin Khairy (L) - 26 G, 12 GS, 2-7, 1 SV, 4.61 ERA, 105.1 IP, 1.35 WHIP, -0.1 WAR
@ San Antonio 4-3(12) W P Juan Guzmán (ND) - 27 G, 10 GS, 4-3, 2 SV, 4.78 ERA, 90.1 IP, 1.35 WHIP, +0.6 WAR
- The first two games were fugly for the Spuds. Even in a world where San Antonio pitching wasn't dominant, you can't count on winning games scoring 0 and 1 run. Boise's lone run was against Outlaws RP Chung Chan in the 7th inning of the first.
- Boise had only 12 hits in 64 ABs over the two games and a great start from Nickerson was wasted. The 2nd game of the week "featured" 'Scary' bin Khairy being as unpredictable as he's always been.
- The Spuds recovered in the finale and really stole one from the Outlaws. They trailed 3-0 going into the 7th but put one on the board there, a 2nd in the 8th, and the tying run in the 9th when LF Cosmo Pan drove in 1B Tracy Allison. The final dagger was an RBI single in the 12th from utility backup 2B Damodaragoun Neela.

v Las Vegas 4-1 W SP Mahad 'Furball' Einan (W) - 26 G, 26 GS, 7-7, 4.21 ERA, 151.2 IP, 1.28 WHIP, +1.4 WAR
CL Mario Santos (SV-16) - 36 G, 0 GS, 2-7, 17 SV, 4.76 ERA, 39.2 IP, 1.54 WHIP, +0.2 WAR
v Las Vegas 6-9 L SP Doug Eckhoff (L) - 26 G, 23 GS, 6-10, 5.08 ERA, 129.1 IP, 1.40 WHIP, +0.4 WAR
v Las Vegas 9-7 W Nickerson (ND)
Santos (SV-17)
v Las Vegas 4-5 L bin Khairy (L)
- Ok, buckle up for the Hustlers who have a 203-139 all-time record against the Spuds.
- Furball had an outstanding opener allowing just one run. Pan drove in 3 of the Spuds 4 runs.
- So as a sweep of Vegas is never going to happen, Boise aimed for a split in the series and locked it down over the last 3 games which only a true offensively minded fan could have enjoyed. Don't get us wrong, they were all close games. They just were not what you would call "pretty" for either squads pitching. The Spuds lost the first 6-9, took the 2nd 9-7, and faltered 4-5 in the last game of the series.
- Vegas had a 3-run 5th and 4 in the 7th in the 2nd game of the series. It continued as the Hustlers in game 3 pushed across 4 in the 2nd and 3 in the 4th, but the Spuds surprisingly answered back with a 6-run 4th booting Vegas SP Mauro Rojas to the showers. Vegas CF Mario Romero drove in 4 of the squads 7 runs.
- Up 2 games to one, winning the series was there for the taking for the Spuds. But 'Scary' bin Khairy gave up 8 hits and 5 runs before the end of the 6th. The Spuds offense just couldn't completely answer.
