Sim #10 (recap here) saw the Spuds deliver a 6-1 record. Let's just say the 1 loss took 19 innings to decide so no shame there. The Sim did cost Sim #6's SotS 1B Bastião Fardos to injury, but a mix of strong pitching and offense propelled Boise to an encouraging Sim after a 1-6 debacle in the previous Sim.
SPUDS OF THE SIM - SIM #10
Pitcher
CL Samir Qasim
17 G, 0-1, 7 SV, 22.2 IP, 3.18 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, WAR +0.5
Two members of Boise's rotation had excellent Sims with SP Jeremy Nickerson holding Jacksonville to 1 run in 5.2 innings while striking out 6 and newly-promoted SP Brad Peckford went 6 innings allowing only 2 runs in a game that would ultimately end in a 19th inning loss for the Spuds. P Ed Noble posted 4.0 innings of shutout ball and former closer Anthony Annear delivered his own shutout in 5 innings, both in relief appearances. But we'll go with Qasim this Sim as he converted 2 of 3 save opps going 5 innings and allowing only 1 run.
Batter
LF Sebastian 'Nino' Fradesso
58 G, 12 2B, 1 3B, 20 HR, 49 RBI, .294/.345/.587, 5 SB, +2.4 WAR
DH Alfonso Rúbio deposited 3 HRs and 7 RBI to his account in Sim #10, but Fradesso was, yet again, the engine delivering 4 2B, 2 HR, and 10 RBI while slashing .344/.382/.656.
