Sim #6 (recap) will mark the point where GM Ben Teague started to get a bit worried as it was a 2nd-straight losing Sim and the Spuds dropped 2 series starting off a 3rd by splitting the first 2 contests. All 7 contests in Sim #6 were close affairs, outside of a 12-run outburst in Edmonton.
SPUDS OF THE SIM - SIM #6
Pitcher
SP Jeremy Nickerson
8 G, 8 GS, 6-1, 40.2 IP, 2.88 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, +0.5 WAR
Sim #6 was an excellent one for Boise pitchers, but they were let down too often by blunders in the field. SP Marvin 'Groucho' Winston pitched 7 shutout innings in his one start and closer Anthony Annear converted 2 of 3 save opportunities. But the guy expected to be Boise's ace this season pitched like it this Sim. Starter Jeremy Nickerson tossed 12 innings over 2 starts allowing no earned runs while fanning 11 to boost his season W/L record to 6-1.
Batter
1B Bastião Fardos
31 G, 11 2B, 6 HR, 27 RBI, .353/.398/.597, 1 SB, +1.5 WAR
DH Alfonso Rúbio and LF Sebastian 'Nino' Fradesso both collected 2 HRs. But it was yet again the first baseman Fardos who powered the Spuds attack. He posted 7 RBI on 3 doubles and a HR while slashing .320/.346/.560. He is on pace for 100+ RBI at 37 years old.
