P Niegloslaw Woywitka
8 G, 8 GS, 0-7, 9.28 ERA, 32.0 IP, 2.0 K/BB, 1.94 WHIP, -0.6 WAR
What to do with Woywitka? As evident in his season stats, he has not just been stupendously bad, he's been a black hole where every 5th game goes to die. He has been DFA'd once this season and is again. When he returns the Spuds will have to place him in the bullpen. At roughly $9m per year and 4-years on his contract Boise is saddled with the righty for possibly the entire span of that deal. The team can only hope that his numbers improve but nothing indicates that he is close to quality. He has a .374 BABIP but that can't explain all the severe shortcomings. Said Boise GM Ben Teague, "We really hope he finds a way to improve his numbers. Perhaps a turn in the bullpen can give him smaller outings with some kind of quality." To say the Spuds don't want Wiegloslaw to remain in the bullpen, a $9m reliever is reserved for players with a much different profile than him, but if that's the only way to get any kind of quality production out of him it doesn't seem that the Spuds have a choice.
