Boise Spuds 4 2 .667 DIV - WC - L10: 4-2 Strk: W2
The Spuds kick off the year with 2 series victories. Both were at home, but it's a great way to turn the ignition on 2063. Boise also had 2 shutouts and allowed only 1 run in another contest.
v San Antonio Outlaws 13-3 W P Josh 'Kid' Clark (W) - 6.1 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 9 K
v San Antonio Outlaws 6-1 W P Mahad 'Furball' Einan (W) - 6.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 4 K
v San Antonio Outlaws 3-6 L P Thomas Turner (L) - 6.0 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 4 K
Opening up against the Outlaws, the Spuds had a perfect opening day for the home fans. The offense exploded for 13 runs with homeruns from LF Cosmo Pan, 2B Fernando Segura, DH Perry Taylor, and RF Tsutomu Yamauchi. Clark was stellar in his first outing wearing a Spuds uniform. Furball took the hill in game 2 and shut down the Outlaws offense allowing only 1 run. Perry Taylor had his 2nd HR of the season in as many games. 3B Bill Kuhn was 4-4 with a double and a homer. In the finale, San Antonio got to Turner for 4 runs in the first 4 innings. Outlaws 2B Nick Cummins, of all people, was 3-4 at the bottom of the order scoring twice and driving in 2. Kuhn recorded his 2nd HR on the year.
v Rosenblatt Bombers 2-5 L P Niegloslaw Woywitka (L) - 4.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 5 K
v Rosenblatt Bombers 1-0 W P Dan Boman (W) - 5.1 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 6 K
CL Mario Santos - SV (1)
v Rosenblatt Bombers 3-0 W Clark (W) - 8.1 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K
Santos - SV (2)
The newly-minted Rosenblatt Bombers were the next visitors to the Grigg and the series featured low-scoring, close games. The Bombers scored 3 runs in the 3rd off Woywitka and coasted from there. 3B Jesús Llado recorded his 3rd double on the year. Spuds P Tim Stops lost the plot in the 8th allowing 2 insurance runs. Dan Boman introduced himself to Boise fans with a stellar outing shutting out the Bombers over 5.1 IP, then Santos collected his first save on the season. It was Clark's 2nd turn of 2063 and it was even better than his first as he shut down the Rosenblatt offense in 8.1 innings while Santos returned to collect his 2nd save.
