Boise Spuds 8 4 .667 - DIV +1 WC L10: 6-4 Strk: W3

The Spuds absorb a series loss but pick up their first sweep of 2058 in Sim #2. Pitching is trending as stronger than offense at this point, maybe about the same rate as 2057, but the squad has been able to trade blows with opponents. So far. One thing that has stood out is the team is enduring a LOT of close games evidenced by the fact that the team leader in wins AND saves is CL Anthony Annear.

@ Rocky Mountain 2-6 L
@ Rocky Mountain 9-7 W
@ Rocky Mountain 5-6(10) L

The Spuds traveled to Colorado Springs for their first 2058 tilt with the Oysters. It was a tight series with Boise coming up one extra-inning short of a series win. Toshikuni Kubo has had a bumpy April and he suffered another shaky outing to start the series. But, all of his runs allowed were in one inning so that can be viewed as positive. Boise was throttled by Oysters SP Jamie Barber for 6 innings so there was no spark to the Spuds at the plate. The second game starting off resembling a blowout as Boise scored 2, 3, and 4 runs in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th innings to build a 9-1 lead. CF Lou Bayou delivered 2 doubles and a stolen base. But Rocky Mountain chipped away at the deficit and things got jittery when Annear allowed a 1-out double in the 9th with Boise holding a 2-run lead. He was able to pitch around that, fortunately, and came away with the save. In the rubber match, Boise looked to be locking down another series win going up 5-0 in the 5th. But the Oysters rocked reliever Ed Noble for 5 runs in the 7th inning and the game headed to extra innings. In the bottom of the 10th, Rocky Mountain 1B Dylan 'Dimples' Malloch sent the fans home happy with a walkoff HR off Annear.

v Phoenix 4-1 W
v Phoenix 9-2 W
v Phoenix 7-6 W

Back on home soil, Boise had two solid outings back-to-back from starters Marvin 'Groucho' Winston and Jeremy Nickerson. Spuds 3B Mahine 'Dragnet' Karetu delivered his 2nd HR of the young season in the 9-2 win with surprising RF Sebastian 'Nino' Fradesso bagging his 4th. The third game was a thriller with Phoenix scoring 4 runs in the last 3 innings to force the Spuds to respond. Logan Hill suffered a blown save in the 8th and Annear was tagged with another in the 9th, but Phoenix reliever Huang Cheng uncorked a wild pitch with Spuds 1B Bastião Fardos able to race home for the walkoff.
