You know, 3-3 doesn't make us feel so bad following a steady diet of 0-7's. Sim #7 was a showdown of the bottom half of the Frontier Division. The offense continued to surge, relatively speaking, this Sim scoring 6 runs/game and the defense posted a stingy 2.8. The Sim ended with 2 nights of wild baseball in San Antonio. As for the team, there were some great numbers posted by the rotation, certainly an outlier looking at Sim #6, and some huge numbers posted on offense. Kind of weird as we're not used to seeing an excess of runs from the Spuds.

v Phoenix 7-4 W
v Phoenix 3-4 L
The Sim started at home and the Boise offense (?) got things rocking vs Phoenix scoring 2 runs in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th innings. From there it was academic even if RP Kent Johnson tried to force some drama by allowing 3 runs in 0.2 IP. The 2nd game was more of a Boise-style affair with the team building a 3-2 lead before the 'human pucker factor' CL Harold Nothard served up a 2-run HR to Phoenix' LF Andrew Wright for the 3-4 loss. It certainly didn't help that P Adrián Fox allowed 2 HRs in the 7th. The latter innings of games have been perilous for the Spuds since the beginning of the season, though, so it's not unexpected at this point.

@ San Antonio 8-2 W
@ San Antonio 1-4 L
@ San Antonio 2-3(16) L
@ San Antonio 15-0 W
Boise ace Logan Hill came in prepped in San Antonio dealing 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball. This time the offense held up his effort in a 8-2 victory that was somewhat inflated with Boise scoring 5 runs in the 9th. 1B Cecil Clark, 2B Marcello Custello, and 3B Gary Allen each contributed 2 RBI. The outlaws bounced back on the arm of SP Sakutaro Kawano who locked down the Spuds offense allowing 1 run in 8 innings while fanning 7. The offense was again smothered in the 3rd game but it was mutual as SP Marvin 'Groucho' Winston allowed just 2 runs in 6.2 IP. It turned into a bullpen battle as the night wore on. And on and on. 16 innings. It was inevitable that RP Adrián Fox would take to the hill and, as would be expected, he gave up an RBI single to allow the Outlaws a walkoff win. The finale was pure fire from Boise. Perhaps tired from the previous, long night, things spun out of control for San Antonio as the Spuds slapped 6 runs on the board in the 4th. The Outlaws found some relief in the middle innings only for Boise to wrap the game up scoring 1 in the 7th, 4 in the 8th, and 3 in the 9th to leave town with a 15-0 spanking of the Outlaws. San Antonio starter António Báldez allowed 7 runs BUT only 1 was earned as 3B Julius 'Jitterbug' Lewis had a crucial error in the 4th allowing the inning to last long enough for 6 runs to come across the plate. Clearly the Spuds offense clicked but the numbers posted by DH Alfonso Rúbio were arcade-like as he went 5-for-5 with 3 HRs and a double pushing 6 runs across the plate.
