Boise had a very productive Sim #23, recapped here, that included a sweep of Mexico City and a 5-2 record that better situated them in the race for a Wild Card berth in the Johnson League playoffs. They do trail the leader of the Frontier Division by 5.5 games but that's a lot of space to make up in the roughly 3 weeks remaining in the season.

As for moving Kubo into the rotation, GM Ben Teague and the rest of Spuds staff are in continuing negotiations with the pitcher and wanted to see him in the rotation. He has not disappointed. Just in this Sim #23, Kubo made 2 starts first against Charm City and next vs Mexico City. He dazzled the Jimmies with 6.1 innings of 1-hit, 1-run ball striking out 4. Then he followed up at home by holding Mexico City to 2 runs on 5 hits in 8 innings while again fanning 4. For the Sim, that's 14.1 IP, 3 R, 6 H, 5 BB, and 8 K's.

Rúbio can do nothing wrong for the Spuds lately. In Sim #23, the righty slugger delivered a whopping 10 RBI thanks two 2 doubles, 2 HRs, and a slash of .476/.542/.857. Rúbio is coming off an August where he delivered 24 RBI and slugged 9 HRs.
