Its no secret that the BBA is great shape these days. With both talent and finances on the up and up league-wide, rumors have started to spread about a possible expansion. And why not? If the league can handle it, who wouldn't want to add more teams. Every extra team means extra games and even more money. Fans are coming to most ballparks in droves and owning a team is quite the status symbol in for the elite in Western culture. Enter one Francis Nephi Grigg IV.
F. Nephi Grigg and his brothers founded Oregon Frozen Foods Company in 1952 after purchasing a frozen food plant in Ontario, Oregon and converting it into a potato processing facility. The company originally produced and sold frozen corn and French Fries. In 1953 they developed Tater Tots using left over slices of potato from the production of French Fries. The idea was gold and business boomed. In 1960 the company bought a second plant in Burley, ID and shortly thereafter changed its name to the iconic Ore-Ida brand we know today.
Fast forward to the present and, relatively, young Mr. Grigg IV has started to make some comments on what a joy it would be to bring a major league level baseball franchise to northern great plains area of the U.S. Sure there are minor league teams scattered here and there but if you live in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Kansas, or either of the Dakotas, the nearest big league level team is likely on the west coast of the US or in Omaha. And lets face it, no one wants to visit Omaha.
With Mr. Grigg expressing interest and the league rumored to be expanding, will the Rocky Mountain states be able to have a big league team of their own to cheer on? Time will tell...

love the owner background, and especially the noble effort at starting a cross-division rivalry with Omaha.

Yup. I need to needle Omaha, Des Moines, and probably Wichita.usnspecialist wrote:love the owner background, and especially the noble effort at starting a cross-division rivalry with Omaha.
Still haven't settle on a name for the stadium. Probably gonna be Ore-Ida Field but I dunno. F. Nephi Grigg Memorial Stadium sounds cool too.

For some reason I flashed on the image of sitting in the outfield bleaches in Idaho, eating pork rinds and tater tots.

Don't be spoiling things. Maybe some people don't actually know where the team is going yet!RonCo wrote:For some reason I flashed on the image of sitting in the outfield bleaches in Idaho, eating pork rinds and tater tots.
