The Morning Glory 2060.03: Rocky Mountain Nine

Post by bcslouck » Sat Sep 14, 2024 1:30 pm

The Oysters sent 9 players to the Mid-Summer Classic this year. We will go over the list with stats given through 7/26/60.

SP Jamie Barber made his 1st career All-Star game. On the year, Jaymie is 11-1 with a 2.58 ERA through 21 starts. He is on pace to have his best season not only at Rocky Mountain, but in his BBA career.

RP Sergej Gijsberts also made his 1st career All-Star game. Claimed off waiver from Montreal in the middle of the offseason, he took over closer duties in May and has taken to it very well after keeping up a strong Spring Training into the regular season. Sergej is 13/15 on his save opportunities with an ERA under 3. While not dominant, he's stabilized the back end of the Oysters 'pen.

RP Alejandro Morín is another 1st time All-Star. Called up late in April, he's been fantastic in a long man roll since the calendar flipped to May. Previously finding success as a SP, Morín has settled in a vital piece for the Oysters.

RP Joe Shaw is the final pitcher to make the All-Star game. This is his 2nd All-Star game. Shaw has been one of the more reliable bullpen arms for Rocky Mountain over the last few years and he proves to be just that once again. Shaw is sporting an ERA under 3 and dominates lefties, who only OPS 0.377 against him.

The Oysters also sent both catchers Sloth Fratelli and Tynan Potter.

Fratelli was claimed off Waivers from Omaha in the offseason. He catches the strong side platoon while DH'ing the short side. He's been good against both sides of the plate, OPS'ing over .800 against each while providing solid defense. He has an opt-out after 2060 which looks likely to happen.

Potter has been here 2 years now and has proven to be a weapon against LHP. This year, he's OPS'd over 1.000 against both sides of the bump. Holding him back from taking over is his iffy defense but at this rate, he'll probably get a strong look next Spring to take over the job.

2 time Silk winner Malik bin Mazin made another All-Star game. This was his 7th time voted in on what appears to be a Hall of Fame career. He's having another fantastic year at the plate, hitting over .300 once again with an OPS over 1.000. As good of a year he's having, he's rarely overshadowed on his own team. We'll get to that later.

SS Lúcio Guevara got voted in for the first time this season. Guevara has developed into of the better SS's in the league despite flying under the radar. He's become a solid hitter as he matures and is a plus glove at SS.

DH Max Shepperson was the final All-Star for the Oysters. This is his first appearance as a BBA player. While having a very good rookie year last year, winning the Puckett as a DH, there hasn't been a sophomore slump. He surpasses last years HR total of 30 sometime in mid-June, not sitting at 44 HR's and on pace to hit over 60. Despite doing this against RHP primarily and avoiding LHP, he's still OPS'd in his limited action against southpaws. If him being a DH can be overlooked, he seems to be the frontrunner to bring another Silk back to Rocky Mountain.

This group has lead Rocky Mountain to what looks like another playoff berth. Them and the rest of the team still have a lot of work to do even though they are outperforming their record.

Wow, I don’t think Nashville has even ever had nine reps. And that’s with me selecting rosters sometimes lol.

Interesting to see bow the game perceives our All Stars vs how we perceive them. Congratulations on having so many representing!

Nine fans couldn't get that lucky. They are stuck with me, apparently!
