The 2041 Aviators Review, Pt.2

This time we’ll start to look at the rest of the pitching staff that finished 2041 in Wichita, this time it’ll be the four pitchers that finished the 2041 season on the IL.

The IL Rotation

21-yr-old Ultse Roseboom managed just 12 outings in 2041, his rookie season, posting a 1-0 record with an ERA of 1.23. In 22 IP he allowed just nine hit and three runs, all coming off three homers. The season though was blighted by several day to day injuries and was finished off by a torn UCL on June 5th which will probably mean he won’t see much of 2042 either. We hope he returns to form in 2043.

21-yr-old Julio Garcia, taken in the 2041 Rule 5 draft third round, he was ticketed for the Aviators bullpen in 2041 but after just 10 innings pitched in his rookie season he suffered a torn flexor tendon in his elbow on May 7th and will not pitch again till late 2042 or early 2043.

33-yr-old Ryan Rose first played for Wichita in 2038 but after a couple of years in Louisville (the opposite direction of travel for the normal Genius signing) he returned to the Aviators for the 2041 season. He wasn’t very impressive, in his nine starts out of his 19 outings. He posted a 1-6 record with a WHIP over 2.00, A 34/344 K/BB ratio and an ERA over 8.20. His season finished early when he suffered a hamstring injury mid-September that won’t see him pitch until early 2042. Despite have three arbitration years left with an estimate of $1m a year, the fact that opponents are hitting .348/.443/.688 against him and a -1.4 WAR means Rose is likely to be non-tendered at the end of 2041.

22-yr-old Kohuru Haukea, when Ryan Rose headed for the IL, top pitching prospect Kohuru was called up from Albuquerque for the final trip round Wichita’s rotation in 2041. Unfortunately, his one start turned into a nightmare. After three innings he was already 3-0 down having given up five hits and finished off by blowing his elbow out. Having to undergo Elbow ligament reconstruction surgery, he will not be back on the mound till late 2042, the third young pitcher to be lost for most of next year.

Hmm. You might want to see if your trainer's medical school was actually accredited ...

Apparently he studied at home because he was too drunk to go to college
