Rocky Mountain Oysters Relocate to Omaha, Rebrand as Rosenblatt Bombers
Omaha, NE — November 7th, 2062 — The Rocky Mountain Oysters franchise in conjunction with The Brewster Baseball Association (BBA) proudly announces the relocation of the Rocky Mountain Oysters to Omaha, Nebraska. The team will now be known as the Rosenblatt Bombers, paying homage to Omaha's rich baseball heritage and its deep-rooted military history.
The new team name honors Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium, affectionately known as "The Blatt," which was a cornerstone of Omaha's baseball scene from 1948 until its closure in 2010. The stadium was renowned for hosting the NCAA Division I College World Series for six decades and served as home to the Triple-A Omaha Royals of the Major League Baseball league. Although the original stadium has been replaced, its legacy continues to inspire baseball enthusiasts across the nation.
The "Bombers" moniker reflects Omaha's significant military presence, particularly Offutt Air Force Base, located just south of the city. Offutt AFB has been a pivotal part of the U.S. Strategic Command and has played a crucial role in the nation's defense strategy. Offutt AFB quickly became a known area as it is known that during the September 11th terrorist attacks, the president was jetted to Omaha to an underground bunker designed to withstand a nuclear blat, located at Offutt AFB.
"Relocating to Omaha and adopting the Rosenblatt Bombers identity allows us to embrace the city's storied baseball past and its proud military traditions," said GM Justin Niles. "I am excited to bring this franchise to Omaha, where it all started for me. I have no doubt that we will quickly become an integral part of this vibrant community and build a team that reflects its values and spirit."
The Rosenblatt Bombers will continue to compete in the BBA's Frontier Division, bringing a new chapter of professional baseball to Omaha fans as Omaha’s current franchise which is on it’s way to Brook Park, Ohio, currently operates in the Frick and will remain in the Frick division.
