2034-14: Talons trade for platoon LF

It was the YS sales pitch that sealed the deal.

Earlier today, the prolific PR personnel at YS Global OmniCorp released a blurb entitled "Miranda Being Miranda Again". The Talons were intrigued, and enjoyed the short, but informative press release just as they have 63 times previously this season. Then, a strange thing happened. Three hours after the press release, YS updated their trade block. This bumped said block to the top of the forum board, and hence into the range of the Talons' short attention span. (Because like no one reads the second page of the active topics screen, amirite?)

There the Talons saw that Roberto Miranda was available for trade (cheep!). Upon clicking the link to this player, the Talons saw that he had good speed and hit lefthanders well. "Gee, he'd be a great platoon guy out in LF", thought the Talons. Their collective inner monologue continued: "Plus he's popular. The fans like that sort of thing. And we need more ticket sales. And front office talent. Wait, did we think that last part out loud?"

Anyway, a deal was quickly struck that brought ol' John John Miranda to Phoenix in exchange for P Larry Davidson, a relief prospect in A ball. Suddenly that echo-y voice in the Talons' heads started up again: "Davidson will be a good reliever someday, but we have like a dozen good relief prospects, so we can afford to deal him," they thought. And so the deal was done in 10 minutes or so.

Why did the Talons do this deal? Is it a cheap attempt to bump up the mysterious "Fan Interest" rating that governs annual revenue? Probably. But at least it was fun to write about.
