2060-005: Talons Breaking News: Shocking Report Reveals the TEMAFPD Tried to Weasel Their Way Into a Caleca Award

It truly is an astounding accomplishment for all involved.

One of the most anticipated aspects of the annual publication is the Vic Caleca Team News Award. Absolutely a point of pride for any team, especially considering the stout competition. But in 2059, a recurring series began, and it was quickly evident that nothing like it had ever been done before. Yes, Gertie's Girls was identified as an early favorite for this award, and despite some amazing work by league GMs, the recipient of the Caleca was never really in doubt.

However, reports revealed this morning indicate that the Talons Electronic Media And Forum Posting Department, winners of three Calecas themselves, tried to latch on to the success of the Girls and ride their coattails to victory. According to sources in the Talons Front Office, these reports indicate that the TEMAFPD actually nominated themselves for this year's award, by attaching one of their own articles to the Gertie's Girls series!

In a shameful and doomed effort, the Talons reportedly made a "joint nomination", combining the Gertie's Phoenix visit with their pedestrian article about the Girls' visit to the famous Center Field Denny's. Yep, you got that right: David Frum and the rest of the TEMAFPD were so sure that the Girls would win the Caleca, they tried to latch on their own article and share in the glory! What a disgrace. Everyone associated with the Talons should be hanging their heads in dishonor. (Ed.: I mean, they do that anyway, all the time, but still...)

Frum had this to say: "Hey, half a Caleca is better than none. Had to try!"
