So why are we here talking about Angelo McKinzie adding a 3rd pitch? My dumb ass must have forgot to export after making changes. The OOTP gods saved me from myself and used it's humor to prove me an idiot once again. Only this time it actually worked in my favor.McKinzie I literally just changed on the fly. I had him set to add a 3rd pitch and then if successful I'd have him do endurance next time. But that is ass backwards. If i have him do stamina now and he bumps to 5, I have the option of not even adding a 3rd pitch and doing it via a SP conversion with PP.
Angelo McKinzie successfully added a third pitch. And not just any pitch. A slider, arguably the best pitch in OOTP. And.... it's more than just the sidecar pitch that we expected to get. He got a whopping 9 potential slider. He now sits at 10/6/4 potential, throws left handed, hits 99 on the gun, and has 11/11/9 pitch ratings. His velo/ pitch ratings suggest he will eventually bump to 11/12 Stuff. The added slider should add a little movement and control as it fills in.
Now don't twists my words here. Mckinzie is far from a blue chip SP prospect now. He is still really raw. His 4/9 slider and 4/11 curveball may never come to fruition. And his 4 control/4 stamina make him a 4-5 Inning starter at best. But it's an exciting development none the less. McKinzie is just 20 years old. So he is definitely not behind in development. He's just a work in progress. With a couple more D-lab trips in his future, his control and stamina will be addressed. He will be used as a starting pitcher next seasons to ramp up his IP.
Even if he fails as a starter, the 55 POT McKinzie was already a solid RP prospect. Adding a third deadly pitch will just enhance his pen skills.
