2030 has been the year when the kids that will carry this team 2 years from now hit the Show. One of the first to hit the show was Jack Bates.
Jack Bates (7/7/2/4/8) has proven himself to be a high average hitter throughout his professional career to this point. He also is bit a strange bird at 1B in that he is a speed guy that could at some point, if allowed, steal 50 bases in a season. So far, 2030 has gotten off to a rough start for Bates as he has suffered two different injuries that have taken away nine weeks of his season. Long term, it seems that Bates needs to regain that contact point that lumped off in the off-season if he intends to be the long-term answer at 1B.
Last year in AAA Bates was the MVP of the league and a big part of the championship run that the team made. At 24 Bates does have some time to prove that he is the answer at 1B for the River Monsters and not just a stop gap until Twin Cities finds the real deal.
After sending several emails and calling repeatedly, we finally got this quote from the front office of Twin Cities: "We like Jack. He's a prototypical #2 hitter in the lineup and he has the speed that can change a game in an instant. I think he could really turn into what the River Monsters need."
