500:

A huge eruption from the near sellout crowd here at Old Bay Park at Camden Yards as Manuel Barrera got Ollie Long to flyout to end the June 19th, 2062 game and push Barrera to the 500 save mark. Barrera became only the 7th pitcher in BBA history to record 500 saves. "What an achievement. I'm excited, but I think I'll probably be able to sit back and enjoy this moment more during the off season. We've got work to do yet this year. The ultimate goal still is to win the Monty Brewster. I wouldn't be here if that wasn't something I was trying to help this team do" said Barrera after the game.

The Jimmies announced on July 3rd that they were promoting top prospect Jorge Nava to the major league squad. Nava, who was acquired from San Fernando in the Sammy McNeill deal back in 2058 was 5-4 with a 4.21 ERA a 113 ERA+ in 104.2 innings of work with the AAA Annapolis Sailors this year. He made his big league debut July 7th vs Boise in a 6-4 loss that saw him toss 6.1 innings giving up 6 hits 3 earned runs and 4 strikeouts and a no decision. A solid effort in his first game. Unfortunately, when someone is added to the starting rotation someone gets removed from the starting rotation. Such was the case when Rannal Seldon was removed from the rotation and put in the long relief role. Seldon got off to a great start with a 0.90 ERA in 30 April innings covering 5 starts. Unfortunately, he's regressed back to 5.99 ERA in his following 12 starts. This will be a big test for Seldon. If he shows he can provide solid work out of the long inning slot we might look to resign him for next year. If he continues to struggle this could be the end of the line for the long time Jimmie.

60:

Patrick Rosales was sent on a rehab assignment to AAA Annapolis. Rosales has been on the 60 day IL since sustaining a radial nerve decompression surgery during the spring. If Rosales can get back up to his historical average, it'll be a boost to our already solid bullpen. We're sending him on a rehab assignment instead of activating him to hopefully get some of the rust off.

The Jimmies had 3 members of our squad named to the Johnson League All Star team: Dave Ackerman who has hit .232/.296/.526/.822 with 27 homers and 60 RBI made his 6th appearance in the All Star Game.
Edgardo Reyes was a surprise member of the team. Reyes has hit .346/.387/.564/.951 in 34 games. This is his first All Star Appearance.
Bryce Sparks was named to his second All Star Game. Sparks has been very good for us this year going 7-2 with 7 saves and a 3.00 ERA and 147 ERA+ in 57 innings this year.

Rodriguez started slow in April, but he’s been heating up as the months progress. We’re going to need him to be able to overcome a very good Charlotte team.

I'm glad Barrera earned his 500th save because he's nearing the end of his career. His HR/9 is up making his 5 HRA look high.
