Charm City 2062.4 - 6 Jimmies to Watch in 2062

Post by DaveB » Wed Feb 05, 2025 1:54 pm

Going to take a look at 6 members of the Jimmies organization to keep an eye on this year.

1. If Manuel Barrera wasn't chasing 500 saves he wouldn't have been resigned and he probably would've been gone prior to 2061. That said the man is a legend, but at age 39 (40 after the first sim) mother nature and time are undefeated. If Barrera is struggling at any point this season to where his performance is a detriment to our club, he's going to make things quite difficult for us. This will probably be his last season as a member of the Jimmies (I've thought this before though). I'm hopeful he'll make it a solid one as he pushes towards 500 saves.

2. Out 11th round pick from 2058 was Jose Cardoza. I'm not going to lie that I'm genuinely excited to see what Cardoza can do this year. He's been improving with each season and added some additional muscle during the off season which helped with his bat speed. It wouldn't surprise me to see him push an OPS of .900 with 20-25 homers. He's going to be a vital part of our offense.

3. Rannal Seldon had been one of my most consistent starting pitchers for most of the time that I've been the GM with Charm City until 2058. During the 2058 season his performance took a step back and with the exception of 2060 he's been consistently a below average starting pitcher (ERA+ ratings of 82, 97, 112, and 84 during those years). He, like Barrera, is a player that while I'm loyal to the work they've put in if their results become a detriment, I will have to pull the plug and go a different route. Unlike Barrera, Seldon does have two bright young starting pitchers that are just about ready for the big leagues (Jorge Nava and Ian Tolley). Seldon's future might be in the bullpen as soon as midseason or he might be on the outside looking in for work.

4. We acquired Evgeny Partyka in a trade from Atlantic City back in 2058. I've been intrigued by his potential since then. I've also been scared of his control during that time as well. 2062 marks the first time that Partyka will be on the active roster to start the year with an eye towards staying on it long term. He's appeared in 5 games in the BBA so far to some unsightly results (2.2 WHIP in 5 innings), but with the spring training injury to Patrick Rosales we're going to need Partyka to prove to us that he belongs in the BBA moving forward.

5. Pedro Soto is a player that I feel like has been in my organization forever. We signed him as a minor league free agent back in 2056 to a 2.5 million dollar bonus. He's going to be making his BBA debut the first time he takes the mound in long relief. I'm not sure what to think about Soto because he's never really produced well in AAA, but he's got some interesting ratings. The hook might be quick here, but I'm interested in seeing what we have with him.

6. I'm expecting Miguel Reyes to be in the majors sooner rather than later. I think Reyes could very well be our closer of the future. He's going to be starting the season in AAA, but if anyone misses a step or struggles he'll be the first promoted (barring injury). Our bullpen is going to be the biggest question mark for my squad this season as we're breaking camp with 3 pitchers (Soto, Partyka, and Alonso Gonzalez) who have a combined 6 games of BBA experience. We also have Alphonse Lease who has struggled in during his time in the BBA. It's going to be fun, but also nerve wracking watching this group of young talent as they navigate their way into the BBA.

Yano is another elder statesman to watch. You’ve got great young players lined up behind him, natch.

He shouldn’t have attempted such an elaborate dance routine during the lip sync battle.

The Jimmie I'm gonna watch the most is the GOAT McCoy, and OH, I see he is already wrecked. Well, may his luck hold out for you.
