Charm City 2063.1 - Hall of Honor Inductee Manuel Barrera

The Charm City Jimmies are proud to announce the 2063 inductee to the Hall of Honor. That inductee is none other than Manuel Barrera. Barrera spent 11 seasons as the closer for the Jimmies after being signed as a free agent following the 2051 season. In those 11 years he posted a 51-73 record, a 3.28 ERA, all while recording a team record 420 saves. Barrera was named to 4 All Star games and won the 2055 Jason Egan Reliever of the Year Award. He was the closer for 3 BBA champion during this stretch including a 9-4 record with 28 saves and a 2.48 ERA in the playoffs. Throughout his illustrious career Barrera spent over 17 years in the majors with an 85-127 record a 3.92 ERA and 510 career saves. The 510 saves ranks 5th in BBA history.

"When I took over as GM of the Charm City Jimmies in 2051 we had a lot of holes on the team. As the 2051 season wore on I had an idea that the talent was there to be competitive in the division, but one thing I felt that was holding us back a bit was the back end of the bullpen. I remember we blew 11 saves in 2051 and it drove me crazy. So we went out and signed Pat Waites along with Manuel Barrera to solidify the back end of the pen and the back end of the pen was solidified. Barrera is an all time great and I'd hope he's looked at as a future BBA Hall of Famer. He's the poster child for the middle reliever conversions in this league. He's meant so much to this city and organization. It was so awkward not seeing him closing the games late in 2062 and it's going to continue to not be seeing him come to close the door in 2063." said the Jimmies GM.
