With the resounding successes of names such as Carlin Adie, Sean McVeagh and Jean-Marc Fraysse overshadowing the crippling disappointment of names such as Lionel Sanguinacco and Sammy McTeir interest in next year’s Rule 6 draft will no doubt be heightened as teams rush their scouts across seas to scout the new crop.
Amsterdam Neptune CF, 24 year old LHB Jude Longton - .317/.397/.537/.934 (’10); .321/.389/.543/.933 (career)
This youngster was selected to his 3rd consecutive all-star game for good reason this season as with 21 HRs Longton is currently leading the EBA in HRs while being 3rd in RBIs (with 73). After back to back seasons of 6.4 and 6.5 WARs respectively, this left-handed slugger is currently on pace for another remarkably consistent 6.45 WAR this year. After all of the talented players taken in last year’s Rule 6, many pundits believe that Longton could be the best of them all.
Munchen Brauers RP, 26 year old RHP Iestyn Pilgrim – 0.89 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, 0.86 FIP (’10); 2.47 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 2.36 FIP (career)
Often overshadowed in the EBA by Sanguinacco and McVeagh in the past, the 26 year old Pilgrim has taken full advantage of their absence by posting, currently, the best season ever by a reliever with 2.4 WAR on the season (on pace for an astounding 3.6 on the season).
Belfast Northstars SP, 27 year old RHP Ricardo Martinez – 3.42 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 3.4 FIP (’10); 3.76 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 3.32 FIP (career)
This right-hander has been consistently one of the best starters in the EBA for the past few seasons; however, with only 2 pitches he likely will find himself in a rotation role over in the MBBA. With a plus change-up and 96 MPH cutter that will both no doubt play up from the ‘pen he could be a very valuable asset there, though.
Belfast Northstars CF, 29 year old LHB Orazio Casale - .272/.381/.362/.742 (’10); .297/.408/.381/.789 (career)
This left-handed batter may not have a flashy stat-line, but he has proven to be an OBP savant with strong defense in the corner OFs – both things that many teams in the MBBA could use.
Paris Patriots RF, 26 year old LHB Ivan Silva - .34/.445/.487/.932 (’10); .301/.392/.436/.829 (career)
In his 4th season in the EBA this left-handed slugger has taken a giant step forward in his development (currently on pace for 5.7 WAR – over 3x his previous career best) and now finds himself as Longton’s strongest competitor for this season’s EBA MVP.
London Bishops LF, 25 year old RHB Douggie Backhouse - .299/.37/.503/.873 (’10); .302/.372/.501/.874 (career)
This gap masher has found himself amongst the EBA’s best in 2Bs and EBHs every season he has been in the league and is on pace this year to be there once again as he looks on pace to put in a second high 3 WAR in as many seasons.
Potential Candidates for the 2nd Annual Rule 6 Draft
Re: Potential Candidates for the 2nd Annual Rule 6 Draft
Looks like I'll get the first pick in the draft, so I'll be looking to acquire Longton or Martinez.
