Seattle finished its first 10 game stretch of the season with its first home series, and the fans were not disappointed, as they witnessed two walk-off wins. Many of the fans were so happy that they didn't stop to think about any possible negative implications about playing a team some predicted to go 51-111 to a virtual tie.
Game One: Seattle moved to 5-3 on the season with a very exciting 4-3 win. Domingo Beccera had another strong outing, going 7 1/3 innings, allowing three runs while striking out 6 and walking only 1. The Storm trailed 3-2 going into the bottom of the 7th, but they tied the game on an RBI single from Tipper Kengos, and they won on a walk-off single from Trey Williams. Josh Tyler added his 3rd home run of the season, while Roman Empire paced the offense with 3 hits in 4 at bats.
Game Two: Seattle won a monumentally sloppy game by the score of 13-10. Seattle banged out an incredible 21 hits, as Trey Williams had 3 hits and Tipper Kengos, Dave May, and Manuel Roman each had 4. Angel Cervantes was pretty putrid on the mound, as he went three innings and allowed 6 runs and 7 walks. Felix Ramirez was the team’s MVP for the day, as he pitched 3 stellar shutout innings out of the bullpen. Of course, he didn’t get any recognition for his performance, but Greg Downing, who recorded 1 out and gave up 2 runs, and Herbert Coolen, who recorded 2 outs and gave up 2 runs, each received a hold. The lesson here, of course, is that baseball statistics are stupid. Seattle entered the bottom of the 8th inning trailing 10-9 before rallying for 4 runs to make the final score 13-10. The game took a miserable 3 hours and fifty one minutes.
Game Three: Seattle had another walk-off win, this time winning 5-4 on an Ivan Salas single. Dennis Tolbert had been terrific through seven innings, but for whatever reason, perhaps because the bullpen was tired from the day before, he was left in well after it was clear that he no longer had “it.” On the bright side, he had 11 strikeouts through 7 innings, which could bode well for his chances for the upcoming season. On offense, Jose Munoz, Roman Empire, and Dave May each had 2 hits, with both of May’s hits leaving the yard. The win moved Seattle to 7-3, and Seattle’s pitching staff has, surprisingly, given up the fewest runs per game of any Frick League team. Seattle now heads to Des Moines to take on the Kernels, before returning home to face Las Vegas and Hawaii.

Three closely contested ballgames against Seattle makes me think I'm doing something very right. Or very wrong.

It would have been weird citing to a prediction of your team being awful if anyone else but you wrote it.aaronweiner wrote:Three closely contested ballgames against Seattle makes me think I'm doing something very right. Or very wrong.

Well, so far, I'm doing a lousy job at being awful. So what do I know?
