2009 Storm Watch: Trade!!

July 21, 2009 - Well Manny finally made a move and honestly I'm unsure what to think, it looks ok but I'm not overly impressed. Manny sent SP - Allan Howse and SS- Chandler Orm to the Omaha Barnstormers for P - Clarence Murray, P - Mathew Kreiger, 2B - Keith Moss, RF - Michael Turner and 3b - Phan Ta.

It was a nice return on Howse who hasnt really fulfilled the potential he has, it looks like Manny and the brass in the Storm organization had given up on him and Orm is just a salary dump as he was eating a big chunk of change while sitting on the bench. None of the players the Storm got overly impress me but I feel that they help the depth of the Storm team as they clearly try to rebuild this franchise.

In an interview Manny said " We were sad to see Howse go as he's been in our organization for some time but we need to look ahead and grab some pieces that can help us down the road. Mr. Orm had voiced his displeasure of being used sparingly so we did our best to facilitate his request to be moved, I wish both of them and the Omaha Barnstormers the best of luck. " A very cordial response from the GM considering that several sources state that Chandler was anything but in his request to leave Seattle.

Time will tell how well this trade worked out for Seattle, Ta could be a great DH as his fielding skills are below whats needed at the ML level and the other pieces are nice depth pieces. I neither hate nor like this trade so my opinion of Manny will remain where it is.... very low.
