Two AAA Starts "Productive"
May 21, 2063 While the BBA pundits ohh and ahh over #1 overall draft pick Carlos Cruz's debut, which turned into a disaster all around, the Bikini Krill executive suite has taken a different direction with their own controversial selection--sending soft-tossing Paul Glass (#16 overall) to Pasco AAA to shake out rust. The results were called productive by Krill insiders, with Glass getting pelted about in his first 4-inning start, but stabilizing to go 5.1 innings in his next outing, scattering five hits, and striking out six hitters in route to a 7-1 victory, an Glass's first win as a professional baseball player.
The result has the team excited, and word is that they plan to call the starter up now, and will likely point him to the last game of the Madison series to make his debut.
"If all goes well, we'll get him up here in the dugout this week," said manager Kate Fiscus. "He's still a kid, you know. And he did pitch last night. It would be great to let him get acclimated to the big-league team and get a sense for how we go about things before putting him on the hill. I understand he's got a great technique for relaxing. I'd like to see him try it out."
What went unsaid is that if that plan is enacted, it would likely result in Glass facing off against the scintillating Carlos Cruz himself. Meaning we would see a direct pitch-off of first round picks.
"That would be exciting," said Misty Morgan, baseball anchor of the Forever Land Sports Network. "I don't think anyone is putting Glass in Cruz's area code for real, but it would definitely be a fun contest of pitching styles and success stories."
