Four Seasons of Futility Appears to Be Enough
April 30, 2063 The Bikini Krill Public Propaganda Team has released notice that once again, once-tip to draft pick Fernando Bushey is to be optioned to Pasco-AAA, this time in preference of hot-hitting prospect Fernando Moreno, last season's second round selection.
Bushey was in the process of following up last year's 12 homer, .721 OPS bout with mediocrity with an even worse 1 HR, .652 stint (in 18 PA). His position on the roster had apparently been held due to his ability to look good while standing in center field, but the team has apparently decided that such cosmetics are just not enough. One ponders if this is the last time we'll see the one-time bonus baby in a Bikini uniform.
The precocious Moreno, on the other hand, though only 22 years of age, has shot through the organization like a bullet, impressing coaches and fans at every level:
22-year-old Gets First
Taste of the ShowHe's considered a well-rounded player with a solid skillset that can play across the outfield as well as at first base.
Moreno's hot spring had insiders suggesting that he would break camp with the big club, but he was instead sent back to AAA, where he's split time in center field with presumptive 2064 starter Ramon Sanz in hopes that his glove would tick up enough to serve as a backup to current CF Amin Abdul-Halim. Scouts suggest Moreno's defense has indeed improved out there, but no one is yet glowing about it.
"We know he can handle the corner role defensively," noted the release, "and fans can look forward to watching a player who can at least get his bat on the ball."
