Williams Heads to Atoll
MORENO LAST MAN OUT

April 1, 2063 Left handed pitcher Nelson Williams had been hopeful all spring as rumors abounded that the timing of his ticket to the big leagues might be accelerated by a season. "I didn't want to get too excited, though," he said a week ago after a solid five innings against a loaded Des Moines lineup. "I've wanted to be a big leaguer ever since I was a kid, and I've had a few bumps and bruises this spring, so I didn't want to get my hopes crushed." Today, though, his dreams came true. Nelson Williams will be the club's fourth starter.

Williams, a 5th round draft pick two seasons ago, has risen quickly through the club;s organization, making brief stops in Port au Prince and Lake City before finishing last season at Kamloops AA where he posts a 7-3 record and an 3.22 ERA in 13 starts.

The assignment means he'll jump AAA.

"Williams combines a 97 MPH heater with a slider and sinker that many call elite, said Misty Morgan, Baseball Anchor for the Forever Land Broadcasting Network. "When he's on his game he's really tough on left-handed hitters."

At present there is some question whether he'll pitch the last game of the Valencia series or be held back for the home opener against San Fernando.

Spring Surprise Sent Back to Pasco

Outfielder Felix Moreno (22) made such a splash this springhitting .317/.341/.610) that the club strongly considered bringing him to the atoll, too, but at the end of the day, the club decided to send him to Pasco where he could spend some time in center field along with fellow prospect Ramon Sanz. "I loved what Felix did here," said manager Kate Fiscus. "I told him I'd see him again soon. But in the short term we needed someone who could back up center field, and right now that someone is Fernand (Fernando Bushey). Felix has the skills for it, though. He really impressed us coming out of Pain Island. I love his bat, and once he get comfortable enough to slide over from left to center a bit, he'll be perfect for out approach."

Moreno closed out last season in AA-Kamloops, where he posted a .360/.410/.507 slash good for 3.1 WAR in 74 games.
