Off-Season Assessment

In this time of youth, twenty-one teams have had players from the 2061 draft class appear at the BBA level. Bikini is not one of them. After Mike Cox was traded, there was some thought that perhaps first-rounder Ramon Sanz would be given the last month, but an injury shut that idea down cold.

It is, of course entirely inappropriate to give a real grade to a class is really only a single full season out from having been created. That's all good, though. Bikini's class is going to be particularly hard to judge for some time simply because we went so young. Eight of the top ten picks were 17 or 18 years old, including Sanz. So patience will be called for.

Regardless, we're here to see what we can see, so here is the breakdown of the whole Bikini class by selection:

2062 BBA Arrivals
As noted, there are no big league players in the mix, yet.

Yet To Come?
The hope is that Sanz (with his 8 range) will be able to handle center field in 2063. He'll almost certainly be given a spot on the team's Pain Island development lab to improve on that. It's also possible that 21- year-old LH SP Nelson Williams (5th round) could be ready to pitch on the atoll next year, though most are pointing to 2064.

Reliever Pedro Valencia (2nd round), 3B Ken Haupt (6th round), and 3B/LF John Reed (9th round) also project to the BBA in the future, though we're talking 2065 and 2066, so there's a lot of whitewater to traverse before we get there.

Some suggest that CF Sean Crowe *3rd round) should be on the projection list, too.

Not Dead Yet?
The team still has 17 players from the round in the organization, most in Short-A and Rookie ball. So anything is still possible for them. Outfielder Antonio Parra (16th round) has been promoted a couple times. We'll keep our eyes on him, at least. Otherwise, it's just too early to put a bunch of players on this part of the list.

Class Grade
All I can say at this point is that I'm fundamentally happy with what I've see so far, but to be a broken record here, I'm finding it fanciful to give the class a real grade/
