Krill Hits Key Moment
IT'S TIME FOR SOUL-SEARCHING
July 31, 2062 | Forever Land: An off-day sees the Bikini Krill preparing for what is 16 games that will likely define the team's season. The stint begins with four games against the reeling Valencia Stars, a team that went 6-21 in July and has lost 12-straight games. Then, after a four-game road trip to Sacramento, the club will host Portland and Long Beach, the other two Pacific division rivals who have seen their seasons hit the skids in recent weeks.
"The blood has to be in the water right now," said Forever Land Sports Networks' Baseball Anchor Misty Morgan. "The Krill find themselves seven games out of a wildcard spot right nowwhich is not a pleasant place to be entering August. A big run here would change that sensation, but this is a moment that cuts both ways. It's time to harvest the hay, as my Grandaddy's Grandaddy probably said one time or another. This is a team with arguably one of the top three or four best pitching staffs in the league, but it's not playing like it. It's time to ... to the thing or get off the pot."
Morgan's sentiment is shared by fans and team members alike.
"We just need to get all the cylinders working at the same time," said team leader Mike McClure. "All year long it's been one thing or the other not quite syncing up. Either the bats are cold and everything else is working, or the gloves drop off, or we get a bad break at the end of a game. We've just got to put that behind us and make our run."
Or, as Maddie Hampshire, a Krill fan and worker in Forever Land's recreational facility said. "We're getting tired of this, to be honest. This is getting embarrassing. So, really, it's now or never. If we can't beat Valencia, Portland, and Long Beach, we should just trade them all and start over again."
