VETERAN RETURNS WITH VENGEANCE FROM LABRUM TEAR
SUCCESS FUELS QUESTIONS FOR FUTURE IN BIKINI
May 15, 2062 | Forever Land | After posting a 5-2 record to go with his 2.85 ERA most pundits seem to think it's fair to say that Jon Brown's return from last season's labrum tear has been a success. At this point, the bigger questions are (1) can he keep it going, and (2) if he does so, can the Krill win enough to propel Brown into the conversation for postseason awards--specifically, can Jon Brown win the Nebraska award?

Jon Brown
28-18 In BikiniOf course, of course, it's way too early for such prognostications. But this is not a projection so much as a passing pondering. Brown is keeping the ball over the plate and in the ballpark as well as about anybody, and his 71 FIP- is definitely in Nebraska waters--assuming, that is, it stays there for another four months. Only a ditzy-doo of an inning in Vancouver kept him from registering his 6th victory this week.
"With the team's rocky start, it was fortuitous that Brown's recovery has been so complete," said Forever Land Sports Networtk anchor Misty Morgan. "I think it's fair to say that his presence at the top of the rotation is a big reason why people can still discuss the idea of the Krill finding their way back up and over .500 right now. Otherwise, you'd probably just chuckle at the idea they could seriously compete."
That's probably all true.
That said, all is not rosey for the conversation about Jon Brown. The starter holds an option on his time next year, and he's not been forthcoming if that option might be declined or not. If he opts in, Brown will make another cool $9M in 2063. Otherwise, at 35 years-old, he would enter the Free Agent market. If he does maintain this torrid pace, it's reasonable to think he would be in line for a pretty hefty raise. With fellow starter Brody Picot getting older and holding a walk-year contract, Krill fans can be allowed a bit of a shudder once they start thinking about 2063. Of course, Picot has struggled this season, so...maybe that part of it isn't quite so bad.
Patience, Grasshopper, patience.
"I'm just trying to get guys out now," Brown said in his down day after his last start. "We'll let next year play out next year."
And as far as his thoughts on winning a Nebraska?
"If I pitch well, I can win," Brown said.
Duh.
