Krill Prospect Draws Crowd
September 28, 2061: Drjanovo, Bulgaria Wikipedia tells me that "Dryanovo (Bulgarian: , [drjanovo]) is a Bulgarian town situated at the northern foot of the Balkan Mountains in Gabrovo Province; amphitheatrically along the two banks of Dryanovo River, a tributary to the Yantra River. The town is a centre of the homonymous Dryanovo Municipality, which is composed of 62 villages, hamlets and huts picturesquely spread out of the mountain folds."
It also says that " Dryanovo is sometimes referred to as 'a town of centenarians' for the healthy climatic conditions prolonging people's life."
Which is interesting to know, but is not really the point of this team news.
Could Pograjac
Be Next Roman? What's important about Drjanovo right now is that it is the hometown of Bikini Krill outfield prospect Boguljub Pograjac, and that with the minor league season over, young Boguljub has returned home. And what's also important about Drjanovo is that about this time of year it holds a street festival foll of merriment and whatevers. There are artists around, and amusement rides. There is also, it turns out, a batting cage where people can try their luck at whacking 100 mile an hour fastballs and whatnot. EBA and GBC for the win, am I right?
What is also important for this team news is that we understand that young Boguljub apparently took his one-time girlfriend to this festival, wherein she prodded him to get into the cage, and whereupon he did grab 1 baseball bat and began to wailing at those 100 mile an hour fastballs. When he did so, it is important to understand that the crack of the bat drew an audience. There is, after all, something magical about the sound of a baseball being hit at precisely the right moment and precisely the right place on a baseball bat. There are scouts that promise they can name a hitter simply by the quality of the sound of that crack. And what's important is that young Boguljub was apparently accompanied to his hometown by an underlying member of the Bikini Krill scouting combo.
"I swear the guy was killing it," the scout reported via direct vocal link. He also sent along video. And what's important about that video is that what it revealed is a young man who appears to have been struck by even more lightning. And that that video has gotten the rest of the scouts at that same Bikini Krill complex buzzing. "He's such a free swinger that you don't want to put a label on him," one of those scouts said before gushing along further. "But I swear that if he can manage to figure out how to take a walk, that could is looking like a young Felix Ramon."
No pressure young Boguljub. No pressure.
To be clear we have no idea what the future will hold for Pograjac. He is still a very young man, and baseball skills grow in ways that are unpredictable. Or don't grow. But what we can say on this day that we're betting a large number of Bulgarians will remember that sound of a bat on a ball for a very long time.
