Fiscus Gets Historic Victory
April 2, 2061: San Fernando – Free agent acquisition Takahishi Nakamura proved to be worth the cash, for at least one night, anyway, going seven innings against a stout San Fernando offence, and allowing only a single run enroute to his first victory as a member of the Bikini Krill.

1st Krill Win“It was a fun night,” Nakamura said later. “I felt good from the first frame on. The game is never easy, but it’s a lot more fun when the stuff is stuffing.” Nakamura struck out five and walked two while scattering six hits. The defense turned out, supporting his efforts with a double play that put dampers on a first inning opportunity for the Bears, and then a smart play in the outfield in which Graham Aubry ignored a lead runner to gun down Rafael Marquis at second base, instead.
Offensively the team was led by two hits apiece from Keith Williams and Pedro Jimenez. Jimenez and Napoleon Mellot both homered.
It added up to a historic night for Kate Fiscus, who became the first female manager in history to win a BBA game. “I’m happy for that,” she said, her cheeks flushing after an otherwise workaday interview. “To be honest, it’s a pretty big release. Obviously, it’s a long time coming. The only thing that would have made it better would have been if it had been Portland, but we don’t play them until next week, and I know as well as anyone that when you’re on the edge, you don’t want to wait a week for your good feeling. Now, of course, I just want more.”
She’ll get a chance tomorrow when Francisco Ortiz will go against these same Bears.
