August 1, 2009 - July is over and thank god for that. The Storm go a dismal 7-18 in July to drop to 41-67, 29 games back of the division lead. Scoring a measly 88 runs agaisnt the astronomical 166 allowed...yes you read that right. With the trade dealine now gone, Manny has done all the work he's going to do and it's obvious that this team is rebuilding. Their offense has slowed down as they've dropped down to 4th in the FL but that's still a great achievement but the pitching has only gotten worse ranking dead last across the board. Hopefully some nice free agents will be available to help bolster the rotation and bullpen.
Hitter of the month: 3B - Trey Williams
Our 23 year old sophmore had a great July ripping up the league with .967 OPS with 2 home runs and 11 RBI. He hit .367 for the month highlighted with his July 28th performance agaisnt Calgary where he went 4 for 5 with 3 doubles. He's quickly making a case for himself to be the face of the Franchise.
Pitcher of the Month: CL - Gerrit Strijk
Our closer wasn't all that busy this month....again as Seattle is so rarely in the lead and in close games so Strijk appeared in only 9 games and 8.1 innings but struck out 6 and had an ERA of 3.24 which is amazing looking at the 166 runs allowed by this squad.
Minor League Player of the Month: CL - Tomas Roman
When can Tomas jump up to join the Storm as they need pitchers like him now!! He tore up the RHML in July appearing in 14 games going 12.2 innings and striking out an amazing 22 people while walking none!! He also didnt allow and earned run the whole month, please please please call this guy up now Manny!!

Roman gave up 1 R in July on a HR, but has 0 ER? How do you get an error HR? Haha...

"
From what I can tell, Saint Paul only got 1 out in the inning because it ended after Roman's coaxed grount out to Tom West... anyone else find any outs in the inning? Kalamazoo ended up winning, so that wouldn't explain why the game ended either. It MUST have something to do with all the errors in the inning (3 by my count - 2 to reach base and 1 wild pitch). That must be why Roman's HR given up didn't count as an ER, either... the system must have counted 3 errors (even though 1 was a wild pitch) and considered the inning not subject to ER anymore... and the 2 reach by base erros must have somehow gotten considered as outs so that the first out could then equate to the 3rd.
Wow, finding an OOTP bug is like picking a needle out of a haystack, but it is pretty fun when you find one (and can see the aftermath)!
