Team Scores 31 in Five Games
October 6, 2061: Forever Land That's right. After sputtering for much of the month of September, the Bikini bats came up with 31 runs in their five-game series with San Fernando. They clubbed six doubles and eight homers. They even stole four bases.
Fans didn't know what to make of themselves, but they knew who to laud.
"I love Manuel," said Hal Michaels, the now self-proclaimed President of the Manuel Martinez Fan Club. "He's the man!"

To New FaveMartinez, 27, has been slowly making his presence felt as the year progressed, posting a better than solid .358 wOBA (.324/.356/.515) in 260 regular season plate appearances. The team made some waves when manager Kate Fiscus said she was considering a move to put him at the top of the order for the post season, a decision she eventually followed through with, and a decision that paid big dividends when Martinez drove eight hits and collected a pair of walks while scoring four of those runs. All total, the normally quiet Martinez erupted to hit .421 and get on base at a .500 clip.
"That puts a lot of pressure on the opposing pitcher," Fiscus said afterward. "Manuel did just what we needed him to do."
It was enough that Michaels and the rest of the fan club created a special Martinez martini to celebrate with a couple shots of gin and a touch of vermouth along with a half-slice of fresh orange, stirred with a bat-shaped swizzle stick.
"It's a great drink," Michaels said. "I just wish we could have drank a few to celebrate Manuel as the series MVP!"
