May 1, 2061: Forever Land – The Bikini Krill medical team gave fans of Earth’s team some good news, suggesting that shortstop Keith Williams was on track to return to the lineup in time to finish up the upcoming Portland series.

“We need him,” said Krill Manager Kate Fiscus. “I’ve been checking him out on the trainer’s table every day, making sure his range of motion is coming in fine. He’s a good kid. You can tell it’s killing him to sit out right now.”

Teammates say that Williams has been intense in the video projection room in his downtime, focusing on playbacks of his batting stance and making some tweaks to his swing. It’s been enough that some scouts are expecting a quick bounce-back from his offensive start, which was a disappointing .241/.272/.379 slash. "It's possible the break could be good for him," one said. "Keith is the kind of guy who can get too focused. Everyone who knows him is expecting him to be better than he was before." Defensively, Williams was having a solid enough start with a positive Zone Rating and a 1.030 Efficiency in limited sample size.

Run-ming Gui, his replacement at shortstop, has been productive enough, hitting .260 with a pair of doubles and three homers while in the slot, but dropping a gently negative Zone Rating. Despite that limited glovework, Krill pitchers have been mostly up to the task. “That’s why we brought him back,” Green said. We know Run-ming can still play a major part in a winning baseball team.

Still, it’s clear the club is stronger on the whole with Williams available.

“I’m excited,” Williams said. “I’m getting bored watching the guys play rather than being out there.”
