With about three weeks to go in the BBA season, Charlotte's @Krathan took a look at the JL Playoff Picture 9/6/60. In this column, he wrote this of the Las Vegas Hustlers, who at the time had the lowest chance of any club with at least a 4% chance to make the playoffs:

The Las Vegas Hustlers are 71-72, in 4th place in the Pacific Division and 5 games out of the final wildcard spot. According to Stats+, the Hustlers have a 4% chance of making the playoffs. Their remaining schedule includes 19 games against teams with a combined winning percentage of .464, giving them the easiest schedule of all 8 playoff contenders.

In the comments, Bikini Krill GM @RonCo posted an interesting retort:

It's not taking into account the Sam Nebraska is going to pitch the Hustlers into the post season.

Nebraska had a 7.75 ERA for the Krill this season, and didn't look to be someone who would pitch any team anywhere but into the gutter. But sometimes there's just something about a winning team that turns things around:

After his first start against Calgary, which wasn't great (he hadn't started a game in a month, having been banished to the Krill bullpen), he turned into a different pitcher. And he indeed played a big part in helping propel the Hustlers into the post season (they made it with a Game 163 win over Rocky Mountain).

His final September numbers (5 starts):
4 wins, 1 loss. 38.2 Innings pitched. 22 hits allowed, 5 earned runs, 0 homers allowed. 13 walks, 26 strikeouts. 1.16 ERA, 0.91 WHIP
