WHIV 2059.6- Checking The Locks: Infielders

Post by recte44 » Mon May 06, 2024 1:44 pm

Sure Fire Locks (4):
Helmut Grun (1B/2B), R/R- Grun is obviously a huge talent and a big part of the Hustlers lineup. Needs to avoid missing a lot of time to injury like he did last season. With Pedarzolli re-signing, he'll probably spend the majority of his time at second base again.

Michael Pedarzolli (1B), R/R- After two years of signing in-season to a split contract with the Hustlers, he finally gets a big league deal and a secure spot.

Tristan Lloyd (3B), R/R- Lloyd continues to be a steady run producing force in the middle of the Hustlers lineup, and gets almost no press doing so.

Stewart Turton (SS), R/R- The Hustlers are going to try to squeeze another year at shortstop out of the 37 year old career Hustler.

Near Locks (1):
Randy Wright (2B/IF), R/R- Can you believe he's just 21 years old? This will be his third BBA season already. The Hustlers continue to try and work him in slowly and as of now he figures to be the top reserve and probably start at second base against lefties.

Stepan Shabrov (2B/IF/OF), R/R- Last minute signing, back with the Hustlers for his third go-round. He can play second, first, and the outfield corners. Valuable bench player.

Trying To Break In (3):
Jon Bevan, (IF/CO), R/R- Would he be best served sitting on the Hustlers bench, or getting everyday playing time in Milwaukee again?

Don Dulaney, (3B/1B/CO), R/R- He hasn't played above Class A yet, and was just added to the 40-man this offseason. Has a good profile for a bench power bat moving forward.

Mario Romero, (SS/IF/OF), R/R- Seems like a good utility player for the Hustlers bench with the ability to play shortstop and center field.

Breaking In The Back Door (5):
Luigi Canavan, (1B), L/L- Lefty power hitter who isn't nearly as good as our other lefty power hitting first base prospect.

Czar Mamatulin, (1B), L/L- The other lefty power hitting first base prospect. He's ready for the BBA, there just isn't a spot for him now. He'll play every day at Milwaukee and await his opportunity.

Ken Brennan, (2B/1B), R/R- Organizational player who is being rewarded for a couple good seasons in Pahrump (A) with a Spring invite.

Stephen Lockwood, (3B), R/R- He was slotted too low in the minors last season, and probably isn't any type of prospect, but there was some glimmer for the Hustlers to invite him to camp.

Fadeuka Hadonov, (SS/3B), S/R- If he was a better defender, he would probably be the Hustlers' shortstop of the future. If he stays as he is, he's a backup infielder.

Good third baseman are always underrated. Just look at MLB HoF voting.

No options. We've been heavily right-handed for a number of years, actually.
