Francisco Salgado and Las Vegas have come to a mutual understanding and have agreed to a $3,900,000, 1 year deal.
Seen as a shrewd baseball mind, Salgado could well prove helpful in teaching younger players how to play the game "the right way" over his tenure. This makes him a great fit for a Hustlers bullpen which figures to be very young.
On his career ledger Salgado has a 64-67 mark, 773 appearances, 136 saves and a 3.55 ERA. He has 1038 strikeouts in 968 innings pitched.
The Hustlers were in desperate need of a top lefty in their bullpen, with only rookie Bret Harrell remaining as a lefty bullpen option after Jimmy Fisher was re-assigned to minor league camp. "Exciting to add a veteran arm like Francisco to the mix," said Manager Edward Allen. "We just have to use him wisely and hopefully we can get him through a quality season, injury free." Salgado was largely bypassed in free agency due to his extensive injury history, with series shoulder and elbow injuries highlighting a laundry list of ailments over the years. "That's a bad rap," explained Allen. "He hasn't had a major injury with a lot of missed time in over a decade. Come on, man."
