WHIV 2002 Vol. 2- Stoller extended for four years

General Manager Matt Rectenwald has to say "come again?" when he asked for an extension offer from Christopher Stoller's agent:

"Roughly, four years, total of $20 million dollars," Stoller's agent said.

It took Rectenwald about .01 seconds to agree to the extension. "We figured Stoller was going to ask for way more, however his high loyalty and low greed certainly played a part."

The contract is structured as follows:
2003: $3,470,000
2004: $4,490,000
2005: $5,510,000
2006: $6,530,000

Stoller, 27 years old, came back strong last year after missing much of the 2000 season with an injury. He went 18-7, 3.61, with 41 walks and 224 strikeouts. Even more impressive is his "workhorse" label, having completed 13 of his 33 starts last year with three shutouts (both career highs).

Stoller dominated in the postseason, no-hitting Buffalo on October 1st in Game One of the Doubleday Series. He went on to win three more games in the postseason as the Hustlers won the Landis Memorial Cup.

"Trooper" is now 94-48 in his career, with a 3.52 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP.
