At the end of the 2000 season, the Hustlers took some time to clean out some minor leaguers and some once interesting players were given their release, including:
Daniel Davis, pitcher- At 27 years old, Davis had yet to establish himself above the Class A level much. He failed to develop as the Hustlers had once hoped when they took him in the 3rd round of the 1995 draft and rated him as 7/6/6 potential. (article when drafted by Hustlers)
"It's just the nature of pitching prospects," Hustlers GM Matt Rectenwald said. "There is no such thing as a pitching prospect."
Davis, to his credit, was thankful for the opportunity. "I still have a little bit of the $60,000 signing bonus I got back in 1995. I invested half of it in stocks and have actually come out pretty well. I'm going to head back to New Hope and do some coaching back there, unless another team wants to take a shot on a 27 year old with a dream."
