The Hustlers charged in September, actually sweeping Calgary to end the regular season as unlikely Frick League Pacific champions. This matched them up with Marquette in the first round rather than Buffalo. Given the Hustlers regular season dominance of Marquette, it seemed like a great matchup.
Think again.
The Hustlers scored a total of twelve runs in five games (with 5 coming in one game and four in another) as the Marquette Suns quickly dispatched them 4 games to 1.
Christopher Stoller combined with two relievers to shutout Marquette 4-0 for the Hustlers only win of the series in Game 3.
"We were very disappointed in the outcome of this series," manager Keith Minuso said. "Obviously we had the team hot at the right time and all signs pointed towards us holding our own in the postseason. It just wasn't meant to be."
And now the Hustlers look forward to 2000 with the entire core of the team coming back.
