WHIV 2057.3- Turton Opts Out, Then Signs Extension

Happy times in Las Vegas as the Hustlers and star second baseman Stewart Turton put the finishing touches on a $40,000,000 contract extension that will keep the 34-year-old in town 4 years longer. Turton exercised his player option, voiding his option for 2057. The Hustlers front office worked quickly to come to terms on a new deal that satisfied both player and team. He gets 2057 and 2058 guaranteed at $10M per year, and then 2059 and 2060 are Team Options, giving the Hustlers some protection as the veteran's age creeps up.

"I haven't played for any other organization but Las Vegas, and I don't plan to at this point in my career," said Turton. "Hopefully I'm here for the rest of my career."

The signing is great news for Las Vegas because players of this caliber are hard to come by. He flourished last year after returning from injury, and moving back to his best position of second base, solidifying both the batting lineup and the infield defense for Las Vegas.

In his 1863-game career, Turton has hit at a .287 clip and collected 1962 hits with 289 doubles, 47 triples, 208 homers, and 864 RBIs.

He probably could have gotten more in FA. Middle infielders who can hit and field are like gold right now. Nice to see him stick with the Hustlers though.
