What Happens in Vegas 1995.2- On fire out of the gates

THe 1995 Las Vegas Hustlers certainly can kick off a season in style. With a 9-3 start, they've already opened up a 3 game lead in the Frick League Pacific (FLP) division.

Leading the way offensively has been the Hustlers captain, C Riley Hinson. Hinson is batting .375 with 6 extra base hits. Also on fire is centerfielder Sean Bockus, who has 8 runs scores and 3 steals to go along with his .395 average.

Heath Rockefeller (2-1, 1.23 ERA, 1 walk, 28 K's in 3 starts) and Johnny Madorin (3-0, 2.25, 3 walks, 29 K's in 3 starts) are one of the best 1-2 punches in the league at the top of a rotation and they have shown it thus far.

The biggest pitching surprise has been closer Washington "Toothbreaker" Jones. In his first season as a reliever, he's already nailed down 5 saves in 7 appearances. Jones still isn't quite sold on the move, he views himself as a starter. The Hustlers have been shopping him but if he continues to perform as the closer and can remain satisfied in that role, those thoughts will stop. The move was made because Michael Shellenbarger has decided he'd prefer to start and the Hustlers agree, for now.

On the flip side of things, 23 year old third baseman Robb "Ricky" Wells
will need to step it up from his current .182 clip if he plans on holding onto the third base job. The middle relief as a group needs to settle in. But overall, expectations have been exceeded.

Although the Hustlers are off to a pretty descent start, they suck compared to the Bulls!
