Calgary Hires Donadoni to Coach

The Pioneers announced today that recently retired Carlomaria Donadoni has been hired as the new hitting coach for the Chestemere Lunkers (R). The hitting legend retired after finishing off his career in AAA this past season. Donadoni spent his 21 year BBA career with 4 teams, but his longest stay was the 9 seasons he spent in Calgary.

"We are happy to bring Carlo back to the organization," GM Kevin Dickson. "If anybody can teach hitting he can."

When asked how soon Donadoni will be coaching with former teammate Larry Stinson, Dickson just smiled. Stinson was just promoted to manage the AA Edmonton Jackrabbits.

Donadoni is certainly remembered for his legendary 2056 season when he knocked out 70 home runs and 179 RBIs bringing home his sole Sawyer Silk Award. Both were team records along with his .724 SLG and 1.109 OPS. His 70 HRs are 2nd in league history to Long Chamberlain's 73 in 1986. Some record books show that Davis Birch hit 70 in 1985, but other records such as the "Old Cato" show him only hitting 22.

He ranks #5 on the BBA career HR list with 741 HR, 6th in RBIs with 2231, 16th in doubles with 724, and 24th with 3332 hits.
