Stinson Comes Back!

Well he wasn't gone long. Larry Stinson has rejoined the Calgary Pioneer's organization and has signed on to be the manager in Havana, the team's Short A club. Stinson just retired from the BBA, but apparently couldn't stay away long.

"I told Larry two years ago that he was moving to the dugout when he decided to hang things up," GM Kevin Dickson said. "There will always be a place for Larry with us and I wouldn't be surprised for him to move up here to Calgary after a few seasons in the minors.

After making the playoffs 8 out of 9 seasons, including 2 championships, the Havana Cigars finished last year 32-44. That was good for 23 games out of 1st place. Manager Bilbo Baggins was in his one and only year in Havana and was just moved up to AA Edmonton this offseason. Baggins made the playoffs all 5 seasons that he managed in Rookie Ball.

"I am looking forward to working with these young guys," Stinson said. "It will be good to work with Dwight again too."

Stinson was referring to Havana pitching coach Dwight Owens, who played with Stinson for many years in Calgary.

It just makes sense to have Stinson in some role with the Pioneers.
