Ollie Signs Long Extension

Calgary Pioneers third baseman Ollie Long has signed a 6 year $83 million extension that will keep him with the club through 2066. The 25 year old hit .324 this season with 50 doubles. He is a 2 time All Star and won the Silver Slugger and Zimmer for 3B last season.

“This was a big contract for us to get signed,” Calgary GM Kevin Dickson said. “While not the prototypical power hitting third baseman, Ollie is one of the best hitters in the league.”

During his 5 seasons in Calgary, Long has hit .328, .370 OBA, .828 OPS. He has 1036 hits, reaching 200+ hits every year until he fell short with 197 this season. He averages over 40 doubles per year and 120 runs scored.

With Resurrection Santos III’s big contract the team is committing $38 million between the two players for 2062-65. With the reduction in salary cap this could create a difficult situation. Of course there are rumors that the team is willing to listen to offers on Santos.
