Crawdad Chronicles 60.04 - New Orleans well below 2061 Cap

Post by JimBob2232 » Tue Oct 08, 2024 7:38 pm

The New Orleans crawdads are looking at significant cap space as they look to re-tool for 2061.

Gone will be SP Steven Flannery, legend Juan Donestavez, and a few other aging veterans. The remaining team is scheduled to be approximatly $40M under the salary cap, and its likely a few more million will be freed up with timely releases.

Middle infield will remain a top priority. There was simply no solution there in 2060. New Orleans tried free agencey, Rule 5 pickups, and a late season trade, and still found nobody to hit above the mendoza line at Shortstop.

There is no replacing Donestavez. But 1B is also a gaping hole - one that should be much easier to fill. 1B Kazantziakis is likely to move on after 3 seasons with the team.

And of course pitching. With Flannery gone, and the bullpen being overall fairly rough in 2060, some investment will need to go there.
