Crawdad Chronicles 60.03 - Flannery to test Free Agency

Today the New Orleans Crawdads GM Jim Roberts stated that star SP Steven Flannery will test Free Agency this offseason.

The 34 year old Flannery joined the crawdads 5 seasons ago after inking a 5 year 70.6M contract, and quckkly became their top starter. In X seasons he went 70 and 51, with a 3.94 ERA and made his first two All-Star game appearances.

Before joining the crawdads, Flannery was a closer for Atlantic City, notching 146 career saves before a quick stint with Omaha before testing free agency.

To be sure, the Crawdads will miss him. they toyed with trading him at the trade deadline, but instead pushed all their chips into the center of the table trying to make the playoffs, a goal they fell just short of for the 2nd straight year.

Now on the north side of 34, Flannery is asking for another massive payday - simliar to his 5 year 70M deal he previously signed. New Orleans wasnt ready to commit to that kind of deal with a 34 year old, but there is no doubt they will keep an eye on him and see what transpires in the free agent market.
